Web Design

MSG Media recently conducted an in depth market research project on web design in the UK. The key feedback is that is has been noted by many UK small to medium business owners and tradespeople that the cost of getting a website up and online does not always reflect the quality of the work or product they are buying, in this case a website. Tha is why they come to us, they say.

There are many reasons people come to us to discuss web design, sometimes they have had the same website for years, and have only started to realise how much massive potential there is to unlock on ‘online’.

Other simply want a high quality website for their new business that does not cost their entire budget.

Other web design concern areas or past experiences have revolved around lack of support, cost of updates once site is live, poor advice on marketing and advertising.

When you invest in a website package it is important to have an awareness of what steps you need to take to ensure you get the maximum return on the web design project.

SEO is a key part of most web design now, but not all as we have been uncovering. As part of the same recent study we realised that web design companies are often neglecting to do SEO work and then looking to charge for it later, a practise that is frowned upon from an ethics standpoint.

If you are looking to devise a tailored online presence that drives more business and retains your existing reputation, the feedback we got from you was that you want simple, effective advice, coupled with the latest technlogy and beautiful design concepts that wow your clients and customers.

We have a superb range of multi-channel marketing options that can suit the single sole trader, through to large international mangement companies, we know this because those are the types of companies that form our client base.

If you are looking to increase your web presence, drive more sales, and gain or retain a competitive advantage over your competition then you should speak to MSG Media on 0161-366-5191.

Twitter Marketing, a-b-c…

There seems to be no let-up to the long running debate as to whether or not it is truly possible to comodify social media marketing. Most UK businesses in the know are already resting on firm stats that suggest the latest trends to hit the internet could possibly be here to stay in one form or another.

The truly big networking hub’s, comparison sites, and online data gatherers all know the power that comes with having a ‘database’ with upwards of 100,000 consumer contacts.

So why not go and get 100,000 twitter followers, instant marketing with live links to your site, coupled with the ability to develop your audience base with no true cost actual.

Sounds to simple to be true really, but is it? Whilst Twitter have strict rules on spamming and how you develop your following – there is noting in the rule book to stop an ethical approach to this level of marketing, and probably in the new year there will come the first serious ‘brand’ challenger to the socal media marketplace.

As strategy goes we have worked on and implemented various solutions recently for some top high street names, the results for these projects are starting to unfold after just a short while we are seeing clear patterns and behaviours emerge. Migration of followers by demograph for example, shows a key trend that many may indeed fail to pick up on if they gear up the M.I to point in the ‘wrong direction’.

3d Websites

The 3d Website could be a lot closer than most people anticipate or even realise. The fact of the matter is with 3d television still very much in it’s infancy, have people had the time to think about what they might do with a 3d website?

For businessess that are looking to deliver a key sales message in a medium that is beyond conventional technology, the 3d Website is the next great frontier of online marketing. Those in the know are preparing carefully behind the scenes, picking up domain names, scoping technology, studying emerging markets, and waiting…

If we had to look at an example of where or how a 3d website might be best put to good use and enhance the end user experience, many people would stick up their hand and answer YOUTUBE, sure it will be nice, but with 3d TV already online it  (YOUTUBE 3D)wont break new ground, at this point.

Other firm favourites such as insurance sites like comparethemarket.com, confused.com etc, may be in line for a possible shock, as comparison site veterans and well placed established service providers they have the most to loose, as there is less loyalty in the price compare market than there used to be. The online site that launches in 3d first & brings an outstanding online package/experience will have a competitive advantage, the media tech buff’s will love it and it will open up many stagnant online industries again, well at least for a short while…

So what can we expect from the 3d revolution? Well, away from the websites we use in our day to day lives as consumers – the most logical advantages could be to he gaming and experience industries. Online 3d ski jump or car trip, for example, could be the type of concept at base level that excells as the experience is finally deliverable to the person in the armchair.

Google Nexus S

Google has continued its strategic advancement into the lucrative mobile phone market.  The Google Nexus S, which is Samsung built, should be available to UK an US consumers at the end of December.

The Nexus S is the first phone to feature the latest version of Google’s android operating system. That has been given the name ‘Gingerbread’

Other goodies that the Google Nexus S will be equipped with include:

NFC – or Near field communication

This short-range wireless technology is used extensivley in Japan amongst other places and NFC allows people to use their phone as a travel ticket, make small payments and scan their phone over adverts, for example, to get more information about a product.

“NFC allows the Nexus S to read smart objects” said David Burke of Google’s mobile division.

For the technology to work these objects must also have an unpowered & small NFC chip in them. This is activated when the chip is near them.

“When you put the phone on top, it energises the circuit,” explained Mr Burke. “It can echo information back to the phone and the phone can send information to the chip.

“So, you can swipe a movie poster and watch the trailer automatically,” he said.

NFC is a growing trend in mobiles and will start to become more pervasive in the New Year, said Shaun Collins, managing director of research firm CCS Insight.

“NFC is going to be the technology of 2011, in my opinion,” he told BBC News. “Most of the BlackBerries will have it and a big swathe of mid to high-level Nokias will have it.”

The next version of the iPhone is also rumoured to contain the technology.

Let battle commence…
